A boattrip mit Hindernissen

What other Saturday morning activity could possibly be more exciting than a boat trip on the Thamse including a visit to Oliver's Island? Nothing! Alex, Deepa, me and Alex's little wind-up transistor radio set out happily squinting into the sunshine reflecting from the river and made our way straight to Oliver's island, which lies directly opposite Alex' house in the middle of the river. Legend has it, that Oliver Cromwell once took refuge there (I am not sure how many people believe this to be true, but there are even more stories, which can all be found here: http://www.hidden-london.com/oliversisland.html)
We had an extra-adventure when - after we had blissfully explored the island with all its Canada geese, big trees and a rusty pully - we discovered that the tide had swept away our boat! Luckily, rescue was already on the way, in form of Alex' exceedingly attentive uncle and cousin! Thank you! I don't know for how long we would have survived on grass and duck eggs?
